A stunning and extremely rare Theo Schoon inspired Necklace handcrafted a very talented master carver, Kelvyn Anderson, who trained under the tutelage of Theo Schoon.
This exquisite necklace is one from a series of 6 that we have managed to secure and present to you. It is a combination of Inanga Greenstone and plated flax cord. The way each of the pieces that make up the necklace have been carved, with each individual carving boarded with the lighter shade of blue/grey and the darker blue/green in the middle shows the incredible talent of this master carver.
An incredible taonga that will be treasured for many generations
Genuine West Coast Inanga Pounamu takes its name from a freshwater fish native to New Zealand. It is pale and often transparent, like the young of the Inanga fish. It is pearly white to grey-green in colour, and ranges from translucent to quite opaque. It can change colour over time, developing a light olive tint as it ages and oxidises - Highly prized by the Māori and the desired material for making Mere and Patu.
