A stunning Breastplate handcrafted from a beautiful piece of Auhunga Pounamu. The soft colours and patterns are amazing, showcased by the wonderful wave and koru design. This will be a cherished Taonga.
Breastplate's signified strength and protection in battle. Today they still hold this symbolism but more as a representation.
Koru- The Māori word for bright or loop. It refers to the shoots of the silver fern. The circular movement to the inner core refers to "going back to the beginnings". The unfurling frond itself is symbolic for new life, new beginnings, hope, personal growth, purity nurturing, a new phase in life, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace.
Auhunga- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Arahura River area, West Coast. Auhunga Pounamu is a pale opaque green colour. Resembling the Southern New Zealand mountains, its --name translates to frosty, given as the intermediate of Inanga and Kawakawa.
