A stunning Kuru from a wonderful piece of Totoweka Pounamu. The markings and movement on this piece are very unique.
The Drop/Kuru- Drop pendants are regarded as touch stones for meditation and representing a connection to the whenua (the land) Aotearoa (New Zealand). The Kuru design is a simple slender length of pounamu worn to encourage knowledge, confidence and independence.
Genuine West Coast Greenstone- Totoweka. This is the rare Kawakawa type with small reddish spots and streaks. The red iron oxide inclusions were likened to the colour of blood of the Weka. The most prized Greenstone in New Zealand is flower jade, Greenstone with pale green or ochre clouds of colour. This distinctive patterning and colouring come from the outside rim or 'rind' of the greenstone boulders or stones where the surface has oxidised.
