Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
Black Jade
– Australian Black Jade hails from Cowell on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula. Coveted globally for its high quality, Australian Black Jade combines beautiful midnight blacks, with a medium to fine grain, allowing the gem to achieve a very high polish, and is sought after by serious carvers. It is still part of the greenstone family, so it will still shine green under bright light .
