A lovely Toki handcrafted with a slightly angled end, from a beautiful piece of Kahotea Pounamu. Shades of milky green and swirling gold create a beautiful pattern, highlighted by the beautiful caramel cord on this cherished taonga.
Toki/Adze – The Toki had much meaning for the Māori, fashioned from stone or greenstone it was an essential tool for survival and day to day life for the Māori. That is the reason Māori attribute the spiritual meaning of strength and power to the Toki. This symbol represents Mana, determination, control, strength, focus and honour.
Kahotea – Pounamu from the Greenstone, West Coast area. A type streaked or flecked with white. The name Kahotea derives from Kaho, meaning light coloured tea (white or clear).
